Our story
Three generations. One family. One trade.
Established in 1946 by Robert M. Riddell, a professional motor engineer, Riddell's Garage has offered quality repairs and servicing of all makes to Bo'ness and the surrounding areas ever since.
Since 1946
From hand-built bicycles to modern diagnostics.
-

BEFORE 1946
An engineer's apprenticeship
Robert M. Riddell served his apprenticeship in another local garage, and during the war worked with SMT, testing and certifying marine engines.
-

1946
Riddell's Garage opens
Alongside all types of car repairs, including dismantling, machining and rebuilding engines, the garage was an agent selling bicycles, which had to be hand-built.
-

OVER THE YEARS
Changing with demand
A recovery service was once offered, which led to some bodywork repairs. As in all businesses, changes were made according to demand, and that service ended some years ago.

MEMORABLE WORK
A Bentley from Holland
Of the many varied and interesting vehicles through our doors, one stands out: a vintage Bentley 3.5 litre Mulliner, shipped over from Holland by a customer for extensive body and mechanical repair work.
The third generation
Following in their father's and grandfather's footsteps.
The company is run by the third generation of the family. Ian Jnr and Alan have been finalists in the Top Technician of the Year competition, sponsored by Bosch and Vauxhall Trade Club in association with Aftermarket magazine.
They continue to attend the latest training to keep up with today's ever-changing technology, and offer in-house training when required. Such is their reputation that the firm also gives help and advice to many other local garages.

Our approach
Small on purpose.
From the outset, the family were well aware of the rapid advances in automobile engineering, and have always kept abreast of the latest technology and developments. That continues today with the latest tools and equipment available.
Quality workmanship by fully trained technicians, working in a clean and tidy environment, is the top priority. To keep that standard, we keep the company to a relatively small, manageable size, which also means personal contact with our customers. That matters to us.
We offer a service based on trust, competitive pricing and quality workmanship, and we are committed to the health, safety and welfare of our staff and customers.
